How might one describe a domain that one buys, and then can own for life, as one’s personal property, without any need to pay renewal fees? A domain that you own an control 100 percent. A domain which can be used as a website address, and an easy-to-use crypto wallet address, and a form of ID when logging in to Web 3 decentralized apps, and place for NFT galleries? Oh yes, and it can even be used for secure, private chatting with your friends!

I would call such a domain innovative, game-changing technology. I would call it a amazing opportunity for getting into the next big thing early. Try doing all that with a boring Web 2 domain! I would personally call it an underrated asset, for now.

The wallet address feature is super cool, because it’s easier to use than a traditional crypto wallet address. For example, if you want someone to send you funds, wallet addresses like earthtomoon.crypto, moongoddess.crypto or readytorock.crypto, simpler than typical email addresses, are much easier to remember and use than a traditional address like 0x85315A0feDD3cdA955C24Ff13196C93f89b73dS5.

A similar type of blockchain address can be acquired from ENS (Ethereum Name Service). On the OpenSea NFT market, the ENS NFT collection has, at the time of writing, more than 474 owners or wallet addresses, and about 1.7 million items. ENS domains end with .eth.  A number of domain names ending with .eth have recently sold for jaw-dropping amounts of money, despite the fact that need to be renewed each year, so are not fully owned by the purchaser, but are merely rented, like with Web 2 domains. This factor also means that they are not fully decentralized.

Unstoppable Domains are more decentralized than .eth domains, and, as mentioned earlier, can be owned for life without renewal fees. One does purchase the right to create a new Unstoppable Domains, from their centralized website, using a traditional, centralized credit card. However after this process, the domain goes to a crypto wallet, where it becomes a decentralized crypto asset, fully owned and controlled by the wallet holder. This makes such domain addresses personal property which the owner can keep in his or her wallet as long as they want, without needing the approval of a centralized authority, and without any renewal fees. This makes Unstoppable Domains closer the the ideals and vision of the crypto dream, compared to ENS names. In my opinion, Unstoppable Domains, as genuine decentralized assets owned by the wallet holder with no time limitations, are more valuable than .eth domains. Hopefully their value will be reflected on the market in the near future.

Unstoppable Domains are available with .crypto, .nft, .888, .blockchain, and .wallet addresses. To create a new domain/wallet, you just go to their website, and in the search, enter a name that you wan to use for your domain/wallet. For example, if you want a name like “formylambo”, you enter it into the search field, and the Unstoppable Domains site will show you whether that name is available with the .crypto ending, or alternative endings, such as .wallet, .nft, etc.
